Flower boxes are one of the easiest ways to enjoy fresh flowers. They arrive ready to display, with no vase or arranging needed. With a little care, your flower box can stay beautiful for days. Here's how.
1. Check the Water Source
Most fresh flower boxes have a hidden water source, usually floral foam, inside the box. Gently press it with your finger. If it feels dry, it needs water.
2. Water Slowly and Carefully
Pour a small amount of room-temperature water around the stems, directly onto the foam, every day or two. Go slowly so the water soaks in and doesn't overflow the box.
3. Keep It Cool
Heat is the biggest enemy of fresh flowers, especially in South Florida. Place your box away from direct sunlight, windows, kitchen appliances and air conditioning vents blowing straight at it.
4. Don't Move It Too Often
Pick a good spot and let it stay there. Moving the box around can shift the flowers and dry out the foam unevenly.
5. Remove Fading Flowers
If one bloom starts to fade before the others, gently remove it. The rest of the box will look fresh for longer.
6. Keep the Box Itself Dry
Wipe off any water that spills onto the outside of the box. This keeps the box looking new and protects your furniture.
